The last decade has seen the emergence of brain research and its correlation to learning thus intersecting the three fields of neuroscience, education and psychology. A student is affected by Nature-such as genetic structure, brain anatomy & functions and Nurture- such as prenatal factors, general health, nutrition and post-natal factors. The latest research upholds the brain as an evolving organ, one affected by life experiences and social-emotional interactions. If areas of the brain are used more, they will develop more. The recent theories in brain research enable the student in the classroom to reach new heights of learning. The classroom teacher plays an important role in providing a learning environment that will be brain compatible, in which the student will be motivated and engaged in deeper levels of learning.
